How to make a NumberLink call

Modified on Thu, Mar 19 at 8:42 AM

NumberLink calls are made via a conference call between the host device, the client and the recipient. You can place NumberLink calls from any client device that meets the following requirements:

  • It needs a functional calling app.
  • You'll need to have the NumberLink app installed to initiate and confirm the call.

Note that placing a call this way differs slightly from using a Sunbeam F1 or an Android smartphone with the NumberLink Host app, as you'll need to answer the incoming call through your device's own phone app rather than through NumberLink.

Steps:

  1. Open the NumberLink app.
  2. In the settings, confirm that the number you wish to use to answer the call is correctly set.
  3. Dial the number you wish to call using the dial pad within the NumberLink app.
  4. Wait until you receive an incoming call from the host phone.
  5. Answer the call using your device's own phone app.
  6. Switch back to the NumberLink app and press "I've Answered" when the popup appears.
  7. Wait while the host phone places the outgoing call.
  8. Once the other party answers, you'll be merged into a conference call.

Important Notes:

  1. NumberLink should not be used to call emergency services. You should call all emergency services directly.
  2. Both devices should be in a location with very good cell service and have WiFi or mobile data access.
  3. If at any time either participant drops the call, the conference call will be ended for all participants.
  4. If you lose service during the delay when the host is calling the client, the call may have connected to your voicemail inbox. If this occurs, press "Cancel" once you see the NumberLink call confirmation popup, after regaining connectivity.
  5. Currently NumberLink does not support adding more participants to the conference.
  6. The Host phone should always be kept in a secure location that prevents anyone from listening in on the phone call. The NumberLink phone app will attempt to disable the speaker or lower the in-call volume, but this is not supported on some phones.
