How to update your phone

Modified on Wed, May 29 at 4:37 PM

If you're having problems with your phone, it is best to make sure all available updates are installed. There are 2 types of updates available:

  1. Software Updates are small incremental updates for specific features. These updates need to be reinstalled if the phone is factory reset.
  2. Firmware Updates are larger updates that update the system and require the phone to restart to complete installation.

To install updates:

  1. Connect the phone to Wi-Fi. (You can also use mobile data if you have a fast, stable cellular connection)
  2. Open Firmware Updates and tap the blue button Check for updates.
  3. If an update is available, tap Download and then Install.
  4. The phone will reboot and install the update.
  5. Next open Software Update and tap the blue button Check for updates.
  6. Tap Install for each update you want.
  7. If you want all software updates to be installed automatically, press Menu and turn on Automatically install available updates. You can now go back and tap the button to check for updates again to have them installed automatically.
