A quick reference guide for shortcut keys and some of the hidden power features on your Sunbeam phone.
System-wide Shortcuts
- Number key shortcuts: In any Menu or the Launcher list, press a number key to jump directly to that numbered item.
- Taking a screenshot: Press and hold Power + Volume Down simultaneously to take a screenshot.
Home-screen Shortcuts
- Remap keys: Long press any of the four D-pad keys, or the Contacts, Camera, Messages, or SOS shortcut keys until a list pops up → select an option → tap Reassign.
- Contacts / Number search: From the home screen, start typing the contact's name or number. You can even split the search by entering the first few letters of the first name → press the 0 key → start typing the last name.
- Call / Message shortcuts: With a search result selected, press the green Call or Message shortcut keys.
- Set a speed dial: Long press any number key while at the home screen → select Set Speed Dial → choose a contact.
- Use a speed dial: While at the home screen, long press the assigned key to call, or type the speed dial number then press the Call key to call or the Message key to open that conversation.
Calendar
- Switch months: Press 4 (back) or 6 (forward) to move between months in Month View.
- Scroll weeks: Press 2 (up) or 8 (down) to move through weeks while staying on the same day of the week.
Camera
- Tap to focus: Tap on the screen where you want to focus before taking the picture. This can make a significant difference in picture quality.
- Zoom: Long press * to zoom in, long press # to zoom out.
Contacts
- Quick scroll: With the contact list selected, press a key to quickly jump to contacts starting with that letter. For example press the 3 key once to jump to contacts starting with the letter "D" or double tap the 4 key to jump to contacts starting with "H", etc.
- Call / Message shortcuts: Highlight a contact or call log entry and use the green Call or Message shortcut keys — no need to open the contact first.
Gallery
- Zoom: Long press * to zoom in on an image, long press # to zoom out.
Keyboard / Text Input
- Landscape / portrait modes: Press the Menu key while the touchscreen QWERTY keyboard is open to switch between landscape and portrait input.
- Switching input: Long press * in any input field to switch between ABC, T9, Emoji, Symbols and QWERTY input methods.
- Speech-to-text: Press and hold the Message key while in any text input field to dictate. Requires Sunbeam Premium.
- Second language for STT: Go to Keyboard → Speech-to-Text Settings → Use 2nd language, choose the language, and optionally reassign which key triggers it (Contacts key or SOS key on the back of the phone).
Messaging
- Scheduled send: Hold down the green send button until a time picker appears to choose when to send your message.
- Lock a message: Press Menu inside a conversation and select Lock Message to protect it from scheduled auto-deletion.
- Camera shortcut: While your cursor is in the text input field, press the Camera key to instantly attach a photo.
- Voice recording shortcut: Press the SOS button on the back of the phone while in the text input field to attach an audio recording instantly.
Music Player
- Previous track: Press the 4 key to go to the previous song.
- Next track: Press the 6 key to skip to the next song.
- Pause / resume: Press the 5 key to toggle play/pause.
Navigation
- Zoom: Press * to zoom in on the map, # to zoom out.
Notes
- Camera shortcut: While editing a note, press the Camera key to take and attach a photo directly into the note.
Sound Recorder
- Switch tabs: Press the 1 or 2 keys to quickly switch tabs.
Weather
- Switch tabs: Press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to switch between the tabs.
- Radar zoom: Press * to zoom in on the radar map, # to zoom out.
- Radar animation: Press 8 to start the radar animation.
- Radar forward / back: Press 4 to rewind and 6 to advance through radar frames.
